西方藝術教育學界為因應社會與文化之快速變革,近年來產生各種思潮與改革方案。國內藝術教育正值面對新世紀之文化衝擊,極需重新思考藝術教育哲學以圖改革與發展之際,實有必要對當代藝術教育之論題及其相關理論加以探討,並省思其對國內藝術教育之意涵。基於此認識,本文針對一些當代重要論題及其涉及之理論加以評析,這些論題包括:後現代藝術教育(Postmodern art education)與新學科本位藝術教育(Neo-DBAE);文化論題:文化素養(cultural literacy)與視覺文化(visual culture)、多元文化藝術教育(multi-cultural art education)、與社區本位藝術教育(community-based art education);以及藝術教育之卓越性(excellence in art education)等,並分別闡釋其對國內藝術教育之意義,最後就藝術教育價值論以及藝術教育方法與實務兩方面進行討論並提出建議之觀點。
Confronted with the challenges in both culture and education in the new era, art educators in Taiwan need to reconsider philosophy of art education, and hence to strive for success in the reform of art curriculum and sound development of the field. In order to reshape the philosophy and methodology suitable for the present situation, scrutinizing current thoughts is necessary. Based on the assumption, this article is to critically analyze some important issues in contemporary art education. These are: (a) Postmodern art education, and Neo-DBAE; (b) cultural issues, including cultural literacy and visual culture, multi-cultural art education, and community-based art education; as well as (c) excellence in art education. The analysis throws light on the nature of the issues, and the implications of the related theories for art education in Taiwan. In the conclusion, the values of art as well as the methods and practice in art education are discussed, and recommendations about the two aspects are made.
