This study investigated the impact of nutritional education on home caregivers for young children. Sixty-nine home caregivers with a mean age of 34.90±3.29 years living in Tainan City and Jende Shiang, Tainan Country were included in this study. The subjects were assigned to four different nutritional education involvement conditions, namely home-and-school, home, school and control conditions. Five-week programs including five sections on nutritional education were taught by home caregivers’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors toward dietary fat and sugar consumption. Home caregivers in the home-and-school and home-based conditions achieved higher knowledge scores at the second month of testing than home caregivers in the school- and control-based conditions in one-way ANOVA testing, but showed no effects at the sixth month of testing. Furthermore, multiple regression analysis showed that home caregivers involved in nutritional education program may reduce sugar intake in their own diets and modify their cooking at the sixth month (P < 0.10).
