摘要

本論文擬從「後現代」理論中，探索文學翻譯過程中譯者的任務及其操作空間。當前「後現代」美學理論強調多元、對等及主體性，譯者在文學作品的翻譯過程中便面臨了許多新的挑戰及新的任務。從傳統尊重原文及原著者的「信達雅」理論，到班雅明點出的譯者的新任務，開啟了譯者的主體性問題的討論。接著德里達等人更提出「文本主體性」的觀點，也就更加凸顯並宣示了後現代翻譯美學的精神。本論文除探討此一新翻譯理論觀點外，亦將結合若干翻譯實務及思考，企能歸納諸家觀點，梳理出一套結合理論及實務的文學翻譯論述。

This thesis will discuss the task of the translator and some strategies from a postmodernist perspective. With the emphases on multiculturalism, equivalence and subjectivity in the aesthetics of postmodernism, the task of the translator faces more challenges. From the traditional demands of literary translation: to be ”faithful, communicative and elegant,” exhorting the translator to follow strictly the original work and its author, to the thesis of Walter Benjamin about the task of the translator, we find an open field available for the discussions of subjectivity of the translator. The theory of ”textual subjectivity” advocated by Jacques Derrida and others shows clearly the spirit of the aesthetic of postmodernism. This article will discuss the development of these translation theories and offer some practical applications and thoughts, to suggest some suitable strategies for translation, in theory and in practice.
