Effects of Rhodiola rosea-Cordyceps sinensis Supplementation on Glycogen Synthesis in Exercised Human Skeletal Muscle

摘要


Glycogen stored in the skeletal muscle is the primary fuel source for endurance performance. This study aimed to investigate the effect of oral Rhodiola rosea-Cordyceps sinensis (Rr-Cs) supplementation on glycogen synthesis in exercised human skeletal muscle. Seven healthy male subjects (aged 20.1 ± 0.3 years) underwent crossover trials by consuming either Rr-Cs (2,000 mg/day) or placebo supplements for 7 days. On the 8th day morning, all subjects were asked to perform a single bout of cycling exercise at 70% VO_(2max) for 60 min with approximately 60 rpm, following a 12 hours overnight fasting. First biopsied muscle samples were obtained immediately after exercise from the vastus lateralis of participants. Subsequently, subjects consumed a high-carbohydrate meal (2 g carbohydrate/kg body weight, 80% carbohydrate, 8% fat, and 12% protein). Second muscle samples were obtained 4 hours after exercise. Blood samples and gaseous exchange samples were collected during post-exercise recovery period. Results demonstrated that the post-meal glucose, insulin response, and respiratory exchange ratio were significantly decreased in subjects who consumed Rr-Cs compared to placebo. Muscle glycogen levels at 4 hours after exercise were higher in Rr-Cs trial than in placebo trial. Therefore, this study concludes that Rr- Cs supplementation for 7 days could enhance glycogen resynthesis in exercised human skeletal muscle, which might be associated with whole body insulin sensitivity and energy reliance on fat oxidation during post-exercise recovery period.

人體骨骼肌肉肝醣是身體耐力運動表現重要能量來源。本研究目的在探討7天口服紅景天-冬蟲夏草補充劑(Rr-Cs組)對運動後骨骼肌肉肝醣合成的影響。招募7位健康男性(平均年齡20.1±0.3歲)接受隨機交叉實驗設計研究,受試者口服2,000 mg紅景天—冬蟲夏草補充劑或安慰劑7天,隔夜禁食12小時後接受單次70%最大攝氧量維持60rpm轉速之腳踏車運動挑戰,持續60分鐘,運動後大腿股外側肌肌肉穿刺收集肌肉樣本,後續立即補充高碳水化合物飲食(含每公斤體重2克的碳水化合物,飲食比例為碳水化合物占80%,脂肪占8%,蛋白質12%),運動後4小時第二次收集肌肉樣本,同時收集運動恢復期血液和氣體樣本。研究結果顯示7天紅景天-冬蟲夏草補充後明顯降低運動恢復期血液葡萄糖和胰島素反應,提升運動後肌肉肝醣再合成程度,同時呼吸交換率(respiratory exchange ratio, RER)反應明顯低於安慰劑處理。研究結論7天口服紅景天-冬蟲夏草補充劑,增加運動恢復期人體骨骼肌肉肝醣合成,可能與提升身體胰島素敏感性及能量來源偏向脂肪氧化的緣故。
