太陽眼鏡在各種運動項目中已被廣泛的使用,棒球選手也開始配戴太陽眼鏡進行訓練或比賽。本研究目的在比較棒球選手配戴太陽眼鏡與裸視時,球體觀測、落點判斷、打擊表現之差異,以瞭解是否能提高球體判斷與打擊表現。招募30位優秀棒球選手,在太陽底下以平衡次序法分別配戴太陽眼鏡與裸視進行測試:一、以球體觀測問卷蒐集受試者觀測靜態球體時的主觀感受;二、視覺判斷由發球機投球在本壘板上的落點進行判斷;三、以打擊測試系統量測球的飛行距離、擊球初速、擊球品質、揮空率的打擊能力。研究結果發現:一、棒球選手配戴太陽眼鏡觀測靜態球體時,球體大小(0.88%)、球體紅色縫線的清晰程度(0.92%)、視覺舒適程度(1.79%)、綜合評價(1.19%)顯著優於裸視;二、落點判斷在配戴太陽眼鏡與裸視條件下無差異;三、打擊表現在配戴太陽眼鏡與裸視條件下無差異。本研究結論認為優秀棒球選手配戴太陽眼鏡,僅有利於觀測靜態球體的清晰度,但無助於落點判斷與打擊表現,主因可能在於僅能濾掉光線的太陽眼鏡,其功能仍有待進一步研發改善。
Sunglasses have been widely used in various sports, and baseball players wear sunglasses for training and competition. The purpose of this study was to compare the differences in sphere observation, location judgment, and batting performance between baseball players with and without sunglasses, in order to investigate whether the ball judgment and batting performance can be improved. Thirty elite baseball players participated and performed tests with and without sunglasses in a counterbalance method under sunlight: (a) A sphere observation questionnaire to collect subjects' subjective feelings when observing a static sphere. (b) The baseball location above the home plate of a pitch from the pitching machine was judged. (c) The baseball hit tracker system measured the ball's flight distance, exit velocity, batting quality, and whiff rate. Results indicated that: (a) When baseball players wore sunglasses to observe a static sphere, the baseball size (0.88%), the clarity of red stitches (0.92%), visual comfort (1.79%), comprehensive evaluation (1.19%) were significantly better than when seen with the naked eye. (b) There was no significant difference in location judgment when wearing sunglasses or with the naked eye. (c) There was no significant difference in batting performance between wearing sunglasses and the naked eye. We conclude that the elite baseball players wearing sunglasses have positive effects when observing a static sphere but do not enhance location judgment and batting performance, which are critical factors in baseball. One of the main reasons may be that the sunglasses in the current market can filter the sunlight out. It suggested that functional sunglasses need to be further developed.
