Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of e-books as a decision-making aid for breast cancer treatment. Methods: This study adopted a quasi-experimental design. From July 01, 2018 to June 30, 2019, thirty-nine patients newly diagnosed as breast cancer were recruited from a surgical outpatient department of a regional hospital. The intervention was to download the decision aid APP and to use Google spreadsheet to conduct a questionnaire. Results: 76.9% of breast cancer patients made decisions and there were significant differences in disease and treatment knowledge after the intervention; the anxiety was significantly decreased (3.33 ± 0.87 vs. 2.48 ± 0.68, p < 0.001). More than half of breast cancer patients felt that they could obtain important health information and were more assured of receiving treatment and more respected. Conclusions: Our study verifies that E-books are high grade decision-making aids. To practice as a patient-centered care, it can enhance health literacy to make the best decisions and also reduce anxiety. It can be used as a promotion model in future to promote medical quality.
