在台灣，外籍新娘的家庭暴力是一個日漸嚴重的社會問題。隨著跨國婚姻來到台灣，她們往往必須適應母國與台灣之間的生活方式及文化差異。根據內政部資料統計結果(2004)顯示：該年台灣地區家庭暴力受害人數為46,613人，其中外籍配偶有3521人(7.55%)，在不含大陸及港、澳人士的情形下則有1,686人，且以越南籍（1044人，2.24%）及印尼籍新娘（280人，0.60%）為最多的兩個族群；雖然，外籍配偶之家庭暴力的個案數少於本土婚姻，但若以實際發生率來看，外籍配偶的發生率則高達十萬分之4083.12，為本土婚姻的23.17倍。因此，如何使她們免於家暴事件是我們重要的社會議題，妥善地處理才能使社會更加美好。

In Taiwan, domestic violence in household with foreign brides is becoming an increasing social problem. After settlement in Taiwan due to trans-national marriage, foreign brides have to accommodate themselves to a lifestyle and culture different from their motherland. Analysis of Ministry of the Interior data (2004), shows that many foreign brides had been affected by domestic violence (7.55%). In that year (excluding; other Chinese culture couples from China, Hong Kong, and Macao) 1686 victims were reported. Foreign brides from Vietnam (1044, 2.24%) and Indonesia (280, 0.60%) reported the highest rates of incidence. Although total number of cases of domestic violence in Transnational marriages were less than the number reported for total Taiwanese marriages, the extrapolated rate was 4083.12 per hundred thousand, this is 23.17 times higher than native to native Taiwanese marriages. It is therefore very important for us to stop domestic violence in the Trans-national marriage. Our society will be enhanced if we deal properly with this problem.
