The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of paternalistic leadership behavior on athlete burnout for college baseball players. The subjects of this study included 202 college Division I baseball players who participated in 2006 College Baseball League. A set of instruments was used to collect data and factor analysis, Pearson correlation, canonical correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis were used to analyzed data. The results indicated that: (1) The benevolent and morale leadership was negatively correlated with the athlete burnout. However, the authoritarianism leadership was positively correlated with the athlete burnout. According to canonical correlation, high authoritarianism leadership demonstrated a positively relationship with high devaluation of sport of athlete burnout. (2) Exercise age and authoritarianism leadership can be used to predictors athlete burnout. However, the authoritarianism leadership were best predicators to athlete burnout.
