Using a Wirtgen WLB10 laboratory plant, works were performed on local materials to produce foamed bitumen treated cold mixtures. The engineering properties of foamed bitumen treated mixes are investigated and compared with those of hot recycled asphalt. Test results show the benefits of utilising high percentages (80%) of milled asphalt in foamed bitumen mixes. The optimum bitumen content can be reduced from 3.5% to 2.0% compared to mixes consisting of all new aggregate, and the moisture resistance of the mixture is enhanced. Resilience modulus and fatigue data show that foamed bitumen treated mix performs as well as hot mix asphalt.
