A Relationship between the Perceivedleadership Behavior of Coaches and the Level of Emotion Experienced by Athletes Involved in Table Teams at the Collegiate Athletes in Taiwan

並列摘要

The purpose of this study was to explore the possible relationship between leadership behaviors found in coaches and levels of emotion found among team members. The sample, drawn from universities in Taiwan, was composed of 31 coaches of table tennis teams and 289 table tennis team members. The leadership behavior demonstrated by coaches was measured through responses on the Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ). Levels of emotion perceived by team members were measured through responses on the Sport Emotion Test (SET). There were significant relationships between each athlete's reported levels of intensity, concentration and physical readiness, and the perceived leadership behavior of coaches in the areas of consideration and initiating structure at each stage of competition. The results support the notion that there is a relationship between the two concepts.
