以教育課程培育護理人員文化能力

Cultivating Cultural Competence through Education

摘要


本研究旨在評值教育課程培育護理人員文化能力之成效。本研究採比較性研究設計,選取方便性樣本參與實驗組(78人),對照組(64人)。實驗組接受本研究設計之跨文化護理課程32小時,對照組則無任何介入。介入前後,兩組接受本研究設計之護理人員文化能力量表測試,此外實驗組並於介入後交一份報告。本研究同時以量性、質性資料分析參與者之文化能力改變情形。量性資料分析顯示,實驗組之文化知識、文化敏銳度及文化技能分數皆顯著高於控制組。實驗組於質性資料呈現接受介入課程對實務工作有幫助。介入課程有助於提升護理人員文化能力,建議相似課程可以提供給其他衛生專業人員。

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an education program designed to develop nurses cultural competence. The study used a comparative design. A sample of on-the-job night school nursing students participated in an intervention group (n=78) or a control group (n=64). The intervention consisted of a 32-hour cross-cultural nursing education program. A Nurses Cultural Competence Scale test designed by the author used confirmatory factor analysis to measure changes in cultural competence of participants before and after the intervention. Additionally, growth of cultural competence in the intervention group was evaluated qualitatively by analyzing participants individually written papers. After exposure to the program, the intervention group obtained significantly higher scores on cultural knowledge, cultural sensitivity, and cultural skills than the control group. Furthermore, qualitative examination revealed an increase in cultural competence in nursing practice among participants in the intervention group. Findings show the educational program was an effective intervention for enhancing nurses cultural competence. Similar programs are recommended for other health professionals.
