This article described the experience of caring a woman who was sexually assaulted by a man suspicious of being HIV positive. The period of nursing care was from 1:10 to 5:15pm on August 27, 2011. She presented herself to the emergency room after the assault. We arrange safe environment and assisted triage to facilitate evidence collection process immediately. A holistic assessment including physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspects was carried out to collect data through direct care, observation and interviews. We identified major health problems including acute pain, impaired skin integrity, and anxiety. We taught her relaxation massage skills to help alleviate pain, as well as wound care techniques and precautions based on Watson’s theory of caring and care model, respectively, Furthermore, she was encouraged to express her feeling; techniques of anxiety management and guidance for positive thinking were provided to enforce a supportive power and rebuild self worth. We also collaborated with the social workers in resource allocation and follow-up. The patient was finally able to overcome trauma.
