The study investigates how the overseas voluntary service helps to deepen the undergraduate students' psychosocial development and civic attitude. The Chuan-Ai Volunteer Team was consisted of 13 undergraduate students, providing a 20-day voluntary service to two schools and near-by communities in Sichuan, mainland China, which were reconstructed with the charitable fund from the Tzuchi Foundation for the 2008 Wun-chuan and 2012 Ya-an earthquakes. Based on analyses of the volunteers' self-reports for service, Civic Attitude Scale, and service questionnaire, we found that, first of all, the overseas service did help to empower volunteers' civic attitude and psychosocial competence, which include developing competence, managing emotions, from autonomy toward interdependence, mature interpersonal relationships, developing integrity, and establishing identity; and secondly, the strategies of role modeling, discourse sharing, value reflection, and altruistic practice provided in the training and service stages help to strengthen volunteers' will of devotion to and internalize the value of voluntary service. These preliminary findings provided useful clues for the future studies about the strategies for environmental actions and teaching practice ability, the design of transformative overseas service project, and organizing an international service model from local to overseas, in order to cultivate the students with active global citizenship.
