論《學衡》時期吳宓的詩學與翻譯

摘要

西方的詩學理論對我國五四新文學作家的文學思想及其創作實踐，曾經產生過很大影響。作為新文化運動反對者的學衡派，則借助對西方詩歌的譯介，突顯了中國古典詩歌文化的傳統價值。吳宓雖然認為詩不可譯，但為了讓國人了解西方優秀的詩歌，仍在《學衡》上刊載許多詩篇，尤其他以舊體詩翻譯大量的西洋詩歌之舉，至今仍受到識者的肯定。本文側重於詩學角度來觀照具有文化身份的詩人兼翻譯家吳宓，在20世紀初的詩學觀與詩歌翻譯活動，著重討論其譯詩成就和翻譯詩學觀，分析其翻譯策略的使用並探討其譯詩如何影響他的詩歌創作。

The Western poetic theory exerted great influence on the writers' literary ideas and creative writing practice during the May 4(superscript th) New Literature Movement. As the opponent of the New Culture Movement, The bloc of Xue Heng highlighted the cultural value of Chinese classical poetry by the means of introducing and translating Western poetry. Wu Mi, though of the opinion that poetry is untranslatable, rendered a lot of Western poetry with the classical Chinese poetic forms and his achievement has been favorably recognized ever since. This paper is an exploration of Wu Mi, a poet-translator with some culture authority, and his theory and practice of Western poetry translation in the early twentieth century. The discussion will focus on his achievement in translating poetry, his translation poetics, and subsequently the influence of his translation work on his poetic writing.
