雲端節能設備創新與應用之研究

A Study on Energy-Saving of Cloud Intelligent Server Rack and the Technological Innovation and Application of Automatic Transfer Switch

摘要


隨著雲端服務快速發展與資訊服務需求與日俱增,資料中心節能需求已到了無法輕忽的地步。然而,資料中心節能與否不僅是規範的問題,更與企業經營息息相關。因為好的機房設計,可為企業節省相當可觀的維運成本。本研究以雲端智能機櫃節能技術為主,藉由相關文獻探討與個案自動電源切換開關硬體電路技術研究進行創新與應用。研究重要成果與發現說明如下:資料中心的建置以美國通信工業協會標準(TIA-942-2005)為機房基礎建設的設計、系統架構與技術指標。智能機櫃節能與效率評估,以動態PUE監控和專家提出的十項改善方式,加上虛擬化與設備整合技術來節省耗能、提高資源使用效率。在安全備援系統,進行模組化與集成靈活之創新設計、降低成本並以平均故障間隔(MTBF)做系統可靠度分析。本研究結果可提供其他企業或學術單位進行雲端智能機櫃節能規劃時參考。

Rapid development and increasing demand of the Cloud information services have driven the topic of energy-saving more important now than ever. The energy efficiency of a computer data center is not just a matter of regulation, but is also closely bounded to the business operation that that runs it. A well designed computer room can save a company considerable amount on its energy cost. This paper focuses on the energy-saving technology of Cloud server rack, and discusses about its innovation and application by referencing other related documentations and cases of automatic transfer switching technology studies. The major research results and discovery listed as following: The data center base/infrastructure design and the technical guideline follow the specification "TIA-942-2005" released by Telecommunications Industry Association. The intelligent server rack energy-saving and the efficiency assessment are based on dynamic power usage effectiveness (PUE) monitoring and the ten improvement proposals from the field's professionals, plus the virtualization technology and equipment integration. On the safely redundant system, there also needs innovative design on modularization and integration agility to reduce cost, and utilization of mean time between failure (MTBF) analysis to study system's liability. The finding of this study paper can provide companies and other academic organizations some references while planning the energy-budget of a Cloud server rack.
