Analyzing survey data, the current study investigates the relationships between prison management, prison guards' attitudes toward grievance, and grievance system. It aims to reduce the negative effects of anonymous grievance. Moreover, inmates' motivations of utilizing anonymous grievance are also explored. The results show that prisonization has negative impacts on prison guards' acceptance and recognition of anonymous grievance.In addition, prison guards' receptiveness of grievance serves as an interverning variable between prisonization and anonymous grievance machinery. Implications for prison management and suggestions for future research are provided.
