専門分野における高い日本語力を持つ人材の養成を強調している応用日本語学科は、雨後の竹の子のように、ここ数年、数多く設立された。実用性と競争力が強調されているため、学習者と日本語教育関係者に注目されている。但し、同じ高等教育に属し、応用日本語学科と名付けられながらも、学制の違いにより、召募する学習者や教育目標、カリキュラム、教師などの面において、違いが生じるのである。即ち、一般教育体制と技術職業教育体制における応用日本語学科は、基本条件の違いにより、カリキュラムをそれぞれの学制に合わせてデザインすべきであると考える。今後の日本語教育の趨勢と言われるが、急増する応用日本語学科は、如何に他の大学と競争し、より多くの学習者を惹きつけるのかについて、学制の違いから考え、特色を打ち出すのも一つの方法であると考える。故に、本稿は異なる学制から、其々の体制における応用日本語学科の違いを比較してみることにした。
More and more Applied Japanese Departments are set up these years with emphasis on cultivating professional Japanese talents. As the courses focus on their practical uses and competitive edges in industries, these departments attract a lot of attention of Japanese learners as well as Japanese educators. Though all of them are of high-level education and are named Applied Japanese Department, they differ in recruiting students, target objectives, courses and teachers due to different educational systems. In other words, the courses provided by Applied Japanese Departments under general educational system and vocational system have different segments due to the varied requirements. The Applied Japanese Departments are considered as a new trend in Japanese education and are estimated to increase in large number. To stress on its characteristics, to increase the competitive edge of the department and the learners and to have a clear picture of what the educational system asks for will certainly be an advantage to the ever-increasing Applied Japanese Departments. This article is aimed at the comparison of Applied Japanese Departments under two different educational systems so as to serve as reference for course design.
