The varieties of interpretations of Hemingway's ”Hills Like White Elephants” arouse different angles of analyzing the story. In spite of the numerous criticisms and theories applied to the article, few noticed ”Hills” is in fact in the form of jigsaw puzzles. This paper aims to analyze the fragments (the pieces of) a jigsaw puzzle buried in the setting and characters. Through the repetitive words, phrases, dialogues, and the setting, the simple words make strong impact on readers who enjoy picking up the pieces of fragments and building up in different ways to make different pictures, different views of the man, the woman and the story.
