泰山封禪考：從觀象授時到祭天告成
On the Origin of the Ritual of Praying to Heaven at the Top of Mount Tai

Praying to Heaven (封禪) at the top of Mount Tai (泰山) is an ancient and important royal ritual in Chinese history. This essay tries to illuminate that this ritual was not only a mere religious event, as traditionally believed, but also a practical and scientific event. The original aim of this ritual is to observe the seasonal movement of the sun on the mountain to make a primitive calendar for agriculture.
