Reliability Improvement of a Dual-Pmsm Speed Control System

In this paper, the reliability improvement of a dual-PMSM speed control system is achieved through a fault detection and torque distribution of two PMSMs. The proposed method provides a fault-tolerant control of a dual-PMSM speed control system that maintains the operation of the speed control system without using any additional hardware. The proposed method can be implemented for high-reliability applications, such as electric vehicles, industrial elevators, and electric propulsion systems. The proposed system is implemented by using two TMS320F2808 digital signal processors. Several experimental results show the validity and feasibility of the proposed method.
