The purpose of this study was to examine the level of involvement, flow experience and well-being of mountain-climbers to identify the relationships among these three variables. A total of 350 valid questionnaires were collected from a sample of participants in mountain-climbing in Taiwan. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, descriptive analysis, factor analysis, multiple regression analysis and one-way ANOVA. The findings are summarized as follows: (1) Involvement is positively predictive of flow experience, and the dimension of self expression was the most powerful; (2) Involvement is positively predictive of well-being, and the dimension of self expression was the most powerful. (3) Flow experience is positively predictive of well-being, and the dimension of ”concentration on the task at hand” was the most powerful. The findings suggested that participants in mountain-climbing can obtain higher levels of well-being by promoting their involvement and flow experiences. In addition, flow experience may act as a moderator between involvement and well-being.
