With the change of generations, people's living styles and mobile space are start to change. And with the dramatic climate changes they are about to face, for such environmental changes, safe and comfortable indoor space has become an indispensable choice nowadays. This paper will be based on the seven principles of universal design as a standard, divide the department store space into five space properties on the public space and analyze it with seven spatial principles. The conclusions of this study are as follows: 1. The design and planning of the public space in the representative department stores in various regions of Taiwan attaches great importance to each ethnic group. 2. Use seven criteria to judge the space and list the criteria for scoring. 3. In order to attract more and a large number of people as a commercial purpose, department stores should aim to make a more comprehensive design for all ethnic groups.
