台灣大專院校英文網站比較與分析之研究

Comparison and Analysis of the English Websites among the Taiwanese Higher Education Institutes

摘要


在大專院校與日俱增及出生率逐年遞減的雙重衝擊下,擴展招生的來源已逐漸變成台灣的大專院校所必須思考且面對的重要課題。在學生來源有限的情況下,向海外招生已逐漸變成各大學所應面對的挑戰,在網際網路普及的資訊化時代,各校英文網站變成快速與海外學生溝通的最佳管道;因此,本研究利用內容分析法,分析台灣各大專院校之英文網站,藉以比較四種不同類型之大專院校英文網站之差異,並提出相關建議作為各大專院校英文網站之維護及設計者參考;內容及設計兩方面研究顯示,內容方面在資訊類目部分,所有變項之平均比例僅達25%,而溝通類目亦只有30%,由此數據得知,台灣大專院校之英文網站,所提供之內容明顯不足;就設計方面而官,介面設計類目之平均比例達69%,功能設計類目平均比例為10%,而視覺傳達介面設計之平均比例為59%,所得之數據仍偏低。研究結果亦顯示,一般大學在英文網站的建構較優於科技大學、技術學院及專科學校。

The Taiwan higher education faces two challenges, too many educational institutes and the decreasing birth rate. Recruiting the potential students from the overseas become the important issues to the school authority. In the Internet era, the web pages of the school become the best communication channel between prospective students and the schools. This research used the method of content analysis to analyze the web pages of four different types of schools in Taiwan higher education and to propose some recommendations for the web pages designers. On the category of content of web pages, the average percentage of providing information sub-category is only 25% and only 30% for communication sub-category. It is still low percentage for interface design sub-category (69%), function sub-category (10%), and visual communication interface design sub-category (59%). The results of the research indicated that the current English web pages did not provide the sufficient information and did not provide enough functions to who are interested in Taiwan higher education.
