The Japan-China relationship is the most important variable that will affect the safety in Asia-Pacific region. The situation between Japan & China greatly affect the prosperity and stability in East Asia. Despite taking ”reconciliation” as its diplomatic principle against USA, on the other hand Japan is also thinking about its own ”independency” policy. After the end of Cold War, the situations changed in an unexpected way. On the one part, Japan's diplomatic central position in the relationship of its alliance with USA and also brought its importance to the attention of other Asian countries. Japan hope to amend its constitution and make itself a normal country so that it could form a stabilizing power along with other East Asian countries where democratism was highly valued. On the other part, China's general national strength was increased dramatically which China Japan economy was moving towards a mutually dependent relationship, but political relations was stress in a competition condition. The unprecedented of ”Two power on balance” situation, had left Japan face a new issue on the relationship with China which need to be solve. Meanwhile, East Asia is moving towards an age of uncertainty after Cold War; Japan is now in an intercession. Both Japan and China are still learning how to deal and adjust accordingly towards this new-staged relationship.
