The purpose of this paper is to re-examine the presence of any definitive version of Shu in the Pre-qin dynasty. A retrospection on LIU Xiang's bibliographic work in the Western Han dynasty has revealed an evidenced succession in Pre-qin books and articles. With a focus on Shu, four common features are summarizedfor the spreading of Shu articles in the Pre-qin dynasty after reviewing associated studies by previous scholars: 1) extra articles exist that are beyond the 100 articles listed in Shu; 2) some articles have the same content but are titled differently; 3) there are deviations in text for some articles; 4) some articles are found under different parts. Hence, it appears unlikely that there was a definitive version of Shu in the Pre-qin dynasty.
