In 2005 and 2006, a pair of Black Kites (Milvus migrans) nested and bred on the campus of the National Pingtung University, Pingtung, southwestern Taiwan. Breeding in 2005 failed due to weather conditions, but succeeded in 2006 with 2 fledglings. The nest height was 36 m, diameter at breast height of the tree was 450 mm, and the distance of the nest from the trunk was 20 m. The food items noted during breeding included more than 2 fish (Carassius cuvieri and AnguilIa japonica) , 1 toad (Bufo melanostictus), 1 mouse (Mus caroli), and at least 4 bird species ( Egretta garzetta, Alaudidae sp., Streptopelia tranquebarica, Columbidae sp.). There were 23 antagonistic encounters with 8 raptor species: 11 with Spilornis cheela, 5 with Accipiter trivirgatus, 2 with other Milvus migrans, and 1 each with A. gentiles, A. virgatus, Buteo indicus, Falco peregrines, and Pernis ptilorhynchus.
