蛇鵰食魚記

A Crested Serpent Eagle Preying on a Fish

並列摘要

Crested Serpent Eagle (Spilornis cheela) is a very common raptor in Taiwan. Its main food is known to be reptiles, especially snakes. When there is a shortage of its main food in the cold season, it also catches birds, amphibians, small mammals, insects, and earthworms, all of which are terrestrial. One day in 2009 winter, I witnessed a Crested Serpent Eagle successfully catching a fish from the Shuangxi River in northeastern Taiwan and consuming it nearby. This is a very rare record of this type of food item for the Crested Serpent Eagle in Taiwan.
