The purpose of this study was to discussion start footwork between speed of footwork displacement and the distance from the net in soft tennis. Research approach was with practical operation with different footwork, make near-body or far-body to play forehand and backhand volley. The results of the study showed that when a player making far-body to play forehand or backhand volley, there was significant differences in the speed of footstep displacement and distance from the net (p<.05). The speed of foot displacement will be faster in forehand and backhand volley and footwork using the closed type faster than open, and the distance is relatively near from the net after halting. Propose some suggestions according to the result: First, the soft-tennis player play near-body volley, not specific that kind of footwork is comparatively appropriate; Second, footwork using the closed type in far-body volley the speed of footwork displacement will be faster and last step of distance from the net will be relatively close.
