大專校院通識教育實施現況分析:以「科學素養」所開設之相關課程為例

摘要


通識教育主要有兩構面:一是通才教育;二是全人教育。而當前大專校院中的通識教育概念源於19世紀,當時有不少歐美學者有感於大專校院的學術分科過於專門、知識被嚴重切割,於是發展出通識教育,目的是培養學生能獨立思考、對不同的專業和科學有所認識,同時能將不同的知識融會貫通,最終目標是培養出完全、完整的人。因此,如何培育學生具有這樣的能力,是教育的重要挑戰,更是通識教育重要的任務。教育部在民國73 年發布「大學通識教育選修實施要點」,通識教育要求大學生需在文學與藝術、歷史與文化、社會與哲學、數學與邏輯、物理科學、生命科學、應用科學與技術七大基本範疇中選修的通識教育科目。而各大專校院也紛紛開設社會人文、中外語文和自然科學等相關選修課程,而「科學素養」則更列入通識教育基礎核心課程,但就研究者觀察國內各大專校院發現,科學素養雖為各校通識課程所重視,但卻未有系統地融入通識教育課程規劃中。鑑此,本研究擬從科學素養的定義開始來分析我國大專校院科學素養通識教育之規劃與課程開設情形,預期本研究可以對國內通識教育產生省思和引導作用,藉由通識教育建構大專學生的「科學素養」,強化大專學生的全球競爭力。

The purpose of general education is to provide the generalist education and holistic education. The current concept of general education in universities is from the 19th century because at the time there were many European and American scholars that did not accept serious academic and knowledge division, therefore, the development of general education intended to cultivate students can improve independent thinking ability, understanding different professional abilities, and finally it can bring up complete and full people. For this reason, developing independent thinking ability and complete people have become important to general education in universities. In 1984, the Department of education provided ”University general education elective implementation guidelines”. It requests all the universities have to provide courses in literature and art, history and culture, social and philosophical, mathematics and logic, physical sciences, life sciences, applied science and technology in general education subjects. Moreover, ”scientific literacy” has to be included in ground core general education although scientific literacy courses are important in universities, but there are no system to enter general education. Based on this, the purpose of this study is to analyze current status of general education in scientific literacy in order to strengthen the abilities of students in this world.
