The Internet attitudes and information commitments toward web information among students and teachers within Physical Education and Sport Science in Taiwan

影響臺灣從事體育和運動科學的老師及學生對網路態度與網路資訊評判標準因素之研究

摘要


The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships between students and teachers' Internet attitudes and their information commitments in web-based learning environments. The sample included 392 students and teachers in Physical Education (PE) and Sport Science (SS) in Taiwan. This study conducted the Internet Attitudes Scale (IAS) as well as the Information Commitments Survey (ICS) for an investigation of PE and SS participants' attitudes toward the web information as well as their standards of verifying Internet information and searching strategies on the Web. It was found that PE and SS students tended not to reply on the authority of the web information compared to those students within science or engineering in Wu and Tsai's study (2007).The results also revealed that within PE and SS, teachers held more sophisticated information commitments than students in general. The findings thus suggest that PE and SS teachers may need to provide additional instructions for students to practice and employ more advanced searching strategies or evaluative standards toward web information. It was also found that participants who have more anxiety and less frequent usage of the Web might tend to use only a few websites that contain the most relevant information to match their searching purposes. In sum, the students' Internet attitudes were important predictors of their information commitments. However, their frequent usage of the Internet did not play an important role in predicting their evaluative standards for web materials.

本研究的目的是探索在臺灣從事體育或運動科學的教師及學生,對網路態度和他們對網路學術環境中的資訊評判標準之間的關係。本研究中的樣本包含392 名臺灣體育(PE)和運動科學專業(SS)的師生。為了調查PE 和SS 的參與者對網路資訊的態度,及他們驗證網路資訊和網路搜尋策略的標準,本研究做了網路態度測量(IAS)和網路運動資訊評判標準調查(ICS)。發現PE 和SS 學生往往不依賴於網路資訊的權威。同時在結果中也發現在PE 和SS 中,教師比學生具有更成熟的資訊認同感。因此,PE 和SS 教師可能需要給學生提供練習及使用更高階的網路運動資訊搜尋策略或網路運動資訊評估標準的額外指導。本研究也發現:較不常使用網路的PE 和SS 教師,可能都只使用幾個他們比較知道的相關運動資訊的網站,去搜尋他們所想要查詢的資料或訊息。可是PE 和SS 學生的網路態度是他們對資訊評判標準的重要預測因素。然而,他們雖然經常使用網路,但卻對網路運動資訊的正確度,無法能作正確的評判。
