The purpose of this study was to discuss the gender equality consciousness among elementary school teachers of different backgrounds. There were 663 elementary school teachers from Yun-Lin County participated the questionnaire survey by the method of judgment sampling. The research tool was "The Scale of Teachers' Gender Consciousness" designed by Hsiao Chia-Hua in 2000. The findings of this study were as following: 1. It was found that the female teachers had more gender equality consciousness than males ones. 2. Younger teachers had more gender equality consciousness than older teachers . 3. Elementary school teachers who were unmarried had superior attitude toward the gender equality consciousness. Some conclusions can be made as following: 1. Teachers' gender equality consciousness could be developed by selfexamine and introspection. 2. Schools should build an environment with no bias or stereotype of gender for students and teachers.
