The interactional dynamics between Confucius and his disciples is identical to the characteristics of contemporary learning communities. They held same objects and goals of learning, continuously shared their thoughts, participated in joint activities, and inspired one another to increase knowledge, techniques and motivation in the community. Most significantly, principles of autonomous learning formed the foundations of the teaching and learning between Confucius and his disciples in a way that disciples were free to challenge and debate with their master, for Confucius did not practice the authority as being a great master. These features are worthy of further investigations and learning. This paper aims to discuss the portraits of this particular learning community formed by Confucius and his disciples.
