藝術與設計實務研究相關概念之分析

An Analysis of the Conceptions about Art and Design Practice Research

摘要


當代之藝術與設計創作者在後現代文化衝擊下,不只應具備專業的實務能力,還須兼備批判省思能力、理論探討、與文字論述之能力,而這些能力實須透過從事實務研究而培養。根據筆者以前之研究,大學生進行藝術實務研究對上述能力之培養確有成效。大學藝術與設計教育之工作室中若能整合實務研究,應可發展出教學之新途徑。鑒於當今台灣藝術與設計實務研究之相關理論與教學之研究仍相當不足,本文擬分析藝術與設計實務研究相關之概念,包括:(一)藝術與設計實務研究相關名詞與意義、(二)藝術與設計實務研究之重要性、(三)藝術與設計實務研究之脈絡、(四)藝術與設計實務導向研究之特質、(五)藝術與設計實務研究方法。本文所歸納之五種方法包括:拼貼方法、自傳方法、新敘事方法、藝術審查方法、與以寫作為方法,可供藝術與設計實務研究與教學之參考。本研究建議未來在創造性學科之領域中,可發展更多之研究與適當之評量方法。

Under the impacts of the post-modern culture, the contemporary artists and designers are required to possess not only the professional ability of practice, but also that of critical reflection, theoretical inquiry, and discourse making. For fostering these abilities, the engagement in practice research is necessary. According to one of the author’s previous studies, the college students' conducting art practice research is proved to be effective. If practice research is integrated into collegial studio curriculum of art and design, a new teaching approach can be developed. Nowadays, the related theories on art and design practice research as well as the studies of its teaching are still insufficient in Taiwan. Therefore, this article attempts to analyze the conceptions pertaining to art and design practice research, including: (a) the terms and meaning related to art and design practice research, (b) the importance of art and design research, (c) the context of art and design practice research, (d) the features of art and design practice-led research, and (e) the methods of art and design practice research. The five methods reduced in this study include: approaches of collage, autobiography, neo-narrative, artistic audit, and writing as a method for the application to art and design practice research and teaching. This study suggests more methods of research and appropriate evaluation can be developed for creative disciplines in the future.
