The animal and plant names in the Truku language are deeply related to Truku culture. This paper investigates the morphology of the animal and plant names, examining the animal and plant names from a morphological perspective. 201 common plant names and the names of 143 common animals have been collected, and are found to have undergone four word formation processes, including single word, functional shift, compounding, and affixation. Among these four word formation processes, the first three are most frequently employed in Truku. Also, the connection between language and culture and cross-linguistic similarities will be discussed.
