Through literature analysis and in-depth interviews, the paper explores how the global issue of suicide can be improved from a school-based perspective and how effective suicide prevention and treatment can be achieved through education and counseling measures. In the literature analysis section, I first analyze the importance and seriousness of the student suicide issue, focusing on the recent data about suicide of youth under the age of 24 to understand students' suicidal ideation, actions, and deaths, and to explore the media imitation effect. The purpose is to propose several promotion strategies, such as suicide awareness programs, school-based screening programs, coping and support programs, and school gatekeeper training. To further explore how to plan and implement school-based suicide prevention programs, two models were identified: (1) enhancement of protective factors/reduction of risk factors, and (2) comprehensive strategies, selective strategies, and indicator strategies. In order to facilitate program implementation, it is important to strengthen the assessment, identification, and assistance of depression and nonsuicidal self-injury. Finally, the study interviewed two experienced school counselors to present two case studies based on their experiences, and then developed a school-based suicide prevention program and illustrated its effectiveness. The study recommends the programs should consider the school environment and student conditions, use multiple methods and strategies according to the degree of risk and targets, and emphasize the strengthening of protective factors. It is also suggested to incorporate these programs into school curriculum plans and student guidance plans.
