從地方新聞看愛河流域人文精神的變遷以1920－44年《臺灣日日新報》為例

每個城市都有她自己記錄歷史的方式，高雄也不例外。高雄得天獨厚擁有一條充滿想像與情感的河流「愛河」流貫其中。對居住在高雄的人而言，這條河流的存在，除了地理上標示的意義外，更多是蘊含其間豐富而多樣的人文精神。惟「愛河」並不是初始就被如此命名的。因年代的不同曾被稱為「打狗川」、「高雄川」及臺灣光復後因錯陽差被賦予浪漫之名「愛河」等。不論其名為何，河水未捨晝夜，一直靜靜地參與高雄人、高雄事。隨著不同時期統治政權的轉變，當權者對愛河流域規劃與開發，各有其當代的考量與做法。惟愛河對高雄而言，早已超越河流的功能及意義。在高雄百年之際，本研究以內容分析法對1920至1944年光復初期，發行量最大之「臺灣日日新報」中，以「打狗川」、「高雄川」、「高雄運河」為主題的新聞，從新聞類別、報導事件、刊登版別及報導的文字進行分析，再現當年高雄人的日常生活圖像及人文精神變遷。

Every city has its own way of recording its the history, and Kaohsiung is no exception. The city is blessed with Love River -a river through which imagination and emotion flow. For Kaohsiung residents, Love River is not just a landmark; it's a piece of the city that contains rich, humanistic spirit. However, ＂Love River＂ wasn't always called just that. In earlier times, it was referred to as ＂Takao River＂ and ＂Kaohsiung River＂. It wasn't until after Taiwan's restoration, due to a series of coincidences, that it was given the romantic name of ＂Love River＂. Regardless of its name, the river has been a quiet participant in everything surrounding Kaohsiung. With each transition of ruling regimes, authorities have expressed their own thoughts and practices as it relates to development planning for the Love River Basin. Nevertheless, the Love River means so much to Kaohsiung residents that it surpasses the literal function and meaning of simply being a river. As Kaohsiung celebrates its centennial, this study use the content analysis method to analyze news articles that reference ＂Takao River＂, ＂Kaohsiung River＂ and ＂Kaohsiung Canal＂ from Taiwan Daily News, which had the largest circulation during the early period of Taiwan restoration (1920-1944). The findings will be analyzed from different perspectives (e.g., category, story, page, etc.) to find a representation of the daily life, as well as the changes of humanistic spirit of people in Kaohsiung during that time frame.
