The correlation of % fat and Masked Obesity Index in Taiwan and South Korea's Teenager

摘要

In this study, empirical study of different national (Taiwan and Korea) teenagers body composition assessment. To comparing the percentage of body fat (% fat), body mass index (BMI) and Masked Obesity Index (MOI). A total of 393 subjects (203 in Taiwan, South Korea, 190) 13 to 15 years of students as subjects. Body type measurement were as InBody 230 body composition analyzer measurements to take %fat. Descriptive statistics, independent samples T-test and ANOVA analysis and comparison of the two regions of the male and female differences and correlation analysis. Results: There are significantly different (t =- 2.147, p =. 033 <.05) in Taiwan and Korea female students, Taiwan's female students %fat (27.52 ± 7.19) were lower then Korea's (29.54 ± 6.80). In vary body composition index compare, MOI and %fat in all students the correlation R2 were above 0.9 (Taiwan, male and female 0.987,0.973; Korean boys and girls 0.976,0.976). compared to BMI and % fat R2 (Taiwan boys and girls 0.488,0.675; Korean boys and girls 0.265,0.641). The study showed that the estimated MOI can effectively estimate body composition, but the need for the subject's characteristics to be adjusted. Recommended follow-up research can be in-depth for its subject's activity and the correlation between body composition and for different forms of activities also caused changes in body composition compared to the case study.
