With the Japanese learners in Taiwan as the subjects, this study explores the characteristics of and changes in their viewpoint expressions in narrative discourses from the longitudinal study perspective, by asking the subjects to describe the contents of the eight-frame comics in Japanese and analyzing their uses of viewpoint expressions. The result shows that the three learners of high Japanese language proficiency tend to use more types of expressions like native Japanese speakers. Yet, they don't tend to be like native Japanese speakers in the usage frequencies of expressions. Moreover, the three learners of low Japanese language proficiency mainly use subjective and motion expressions. And after learning Japanese for a longer period, they still don't tend to be like native Japanese speakers in both aspects: the types of viewpoint expressions used and the usage frequencies.
