Validation of Canadian Physical Literacy 2nd Edition Questionnaire in Taiwan

Introduction: For the long-term health and happiness of school children, this is an important issue in today's education that helps school children have physical literacy and reduce the habit of being sedentary. Therefore, countries around the world promote the concept of physical literacy and develop effective physical literacy assessment tools. The purpose of this study was to compile the questionnaire of the second edition of the Canadian physical literacy assessment (CAPL-2) into the Taiwan version, to conform to the Taiwanese context. After that, test its validity and reliability, using Taiwanese schoolchildren as a sample. Method: This study is edited for the Taiwanese version of the CAPL-2 questionnaire through expert validity. After that, a total of 511 primary school children aged 8-11 years old in two primary schools in Taoyuan Area were tested, and 479 valid questionnaires were obtained (male = 264, 55.1%, female = 215, 44.9%). The obtained data are tested by test item analysis, internal consistency reliability analysis, homogeneity test of correlation coefficient, and confirmatory factor analysis to test whether the Taiwan version of the CAPL-2 Chinese questionnaire has good reliability and validity. Results: 1. Knowledge and Understanding: The Internal consistency reliability of the Taiwan version of CAPL-2 questionnaire is acceptable (α = .70); the item difficulty index of the multiple choice question and blank filling question of the Taiwan version of CAPL-2 questionnaire are fine. Item Discrimination shows that the quality of the Taiwan version of CAPL-2 questionnaire is excellent. 2.Motivation and Confidence: Internal consistency reliability (α = .92) and item discrimination are fine; confirmatory factor analysis which CFI = .95; TLI = .93; RMSEA = 0.087; SRMR = 0.053, Construct Reliability is fine; the factor loadings of the convergent validity and the average variance extracted (AVE) is above standard; the minimum value of the AVE of discriminant validity is greater than the square of the maximum value of the correlation coefficient between the whole dimension, so the intrinsic quality of the theoretical model is good. Conclusion: Overall, this study has proved that the Taiwan version of CAPL-2 questionnaire has reliability and validity, and can provide reference in future study in assessment of physical literacy in Taiwan.
