This study recruited 48 offence and defense records of 102nd academic-year HBL (High School Basketball League) male first division preliminary games as research data. The primary purpose was to investigate critical offence and defense skills of basketball that influence sport performance by regression analysis. The finding of the research revealed that the difference of score and lost score was a better criterion than the quotient of score and lost score because the difference of score and lost score had a higher coefficient of determination. As for the predictors, three-points score, two-points score and free throw score had higher predict ability than three-points rate, two-points rate and free throw rate. Finally, the research discovered that two-points score, three-points score, free throw score, offence rebound and steal were the five critical techniques that influence performance (difference of score and lost score) of high school first division male basketball teams.
