The present study investigates how filial therapy can significantly reduce children problems and parental stress. The supporting group members are six mothers of 3 to 10 years old children. The investigation lasted for ten weeks with the group members meeting two hours a week. The study adapted quantitative-and-qualitative-mixed design. For qualitative method, six members were interviewed during 7-14 days after the process, an the data analyzed by researchers. For quantitative method, the group members were given the "Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment" and the "Parenting Stress Index" for pre- and pro-tests, then proceeded wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-rank test. The study finds that the filial therapy has significant effects on reducing children problems, parental stress and improving the relationship among family members. The researchers discuss the results of the study and make recommendations for social workers and for future research.
