Introduction: Since the end of 2019, countries around the world have been affected by the novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and physical education has also changed to the interactive method of distance teaching, which has changed the nature of teacher-student interactions. The purpose of this article was to examine the effects of distance teaching on teacher student interaction. Methods: Based on theories related to teaching interaction, we collected relevant teaching literature with key words such as distance teaching, online teaching, and teacher-student interaction as theoretical and empirical support to compile and summarize the situations of teacher-student interaction in distance teaching. Results: The analysis of the literatures produced findings as follows: Firstly, the open education interaction method forms silent interaction, and the interaction method that requires frequent and immediate feedback also makes online teaching a great challenge. Secondly, teachers are able to absorb and use various online teaching software quickly and designed appropriate teaching contents to bring students a certain quality of learning. Facing the problem of less interaction between teachers and students in distance teaching, teachers should make good use of various teaching strategies or pre-recorded instructional videos for students to review and revisit, to possess more diverse learning environment than the physical one. Conclusion: It is recommended that in the future online teaching should preserve the essence of physical education teacher-student interaction through diverse teaching methods, so that students can get better physical development and learning outcomes.
