The emergence of the Chinese medicine minimally invasive therapy has opened up new therapeutic possibilities for Chinese medicine acupuncture. Combining the sword needle from ancient times and the technological improvements in modern needles, the sword needle minimally invasive therapy is a procedure that has made impacting contributions and progress. Chinese medicine physicians who are clinically applying this minimally invasive procedure are still guided by the same traditional Chinese medicine theoretical foundations. However, Chinese medicine physicians of today have a much more comprehensive understanding of physiology, anatomy, pathology, and surgical procedures. By applying this procedure, Chinese medicine physicians can intervene at the onset and provide adjuvant therapy for all types of acute and chronic pain, tissue adhesions, joint and bone disorders, and internal medicine diseases. This paper introduces the sword needle therapy, the types of disorders it can effectively treat, and the precautions that practitioners must be aware of prior to and after performing the procedure.
