Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the factors of leisure activities and participation of Taiwan surfing activists. Taiwan is an island country, rich in marine resources, with a variety of beautiful coastline, is very suitable for the development of marine leisure activities. Method: In this study, we will use the method of field interviews, and use the judgment sampling method, for 12 different age, sex, educational background and professional surfing participants to conduct semi-structured in-depth interviews. Results: We find that the majority of people who engage in surfing are young people aged from 20 to 40. Most of them are single, which accounts for the flexibility of their time arrangement and less objection from family to their devotion to surfing. Conclusion: When it comes to the obstacles they encounter while engaging in surfing, most surfers suffer from our traditional way of thinking, the government's poor public construction, people's destruction to the environment, and their personal financial, time as well as physical limitations.
