The concept of Evidence-Based policing was advocated by the American scholar Lawrence W. Sherman. Evidence-Based policing is a policing strategy that extends from the concept of Evidence-Based Practice, emphasizing the use of scientific evidence and rigorous research methods to evaluate the effectiveness of various policing programs, with particular emphasis on crime prevention. Sherman also recommends using the "Triple-T" principle of Evidence-Based policing to evaluate the effectiveness of policing programs. This paper also describes the requirements for scientific evidence and research methods in Evidence-Based policing, and how to apply scientific evidence and research methods in evaluating the effectiveness of policing programs.
