並列摘要

This paper uses the family income and expenditure survey data between 1996 and 2006 and adopts the quantile regression method to explore the long-term changes for factors that impact Taiwan family travel expenditures. And the findings from this research are expected to provide both the government and tourism industry with references in enacting tourism development strategies or planning for tourism related products. The empirical results show that the variables including household disposable income, level of urbanization, the size of household, the age of household head, the education level of household head, the proportion of young population are all the important factors to explain the family oversea tourist expenses. Also known by the empirical results of previous years, the factors affecting foreign travel expenditure are not static; their effect may vary with the diversified of consumer needs on foreign travel, year by year. In addition, the results of the equality of the slope coefficients across quantiles are mostly not significant, quantile regression can make available to the researchers observed a more extensive level, and the advantage is significantly reduced.
