Screening for Root-Knot Nematode Resistance in Segregating Tomato Population

並列摘要

Abstract:Selection of root-knot nematode resistance was conducted from 21 segregating tomato populations. The seeding screening method by using egg inoculation was found to be very effective in identifying nematode resistance in the early segregating populations. By conducting singleplant selection and progeny test, 20 F5 lines were identified to be in homozygous form for nematode resistance. These lines also exhibit nice horticultural traits. They have fairly large fruit size (40-150 gm), nice firmness and excellent color, more importantly most of them have much better heat resistance than the control cultivar, TK 70 and Tainan Selection No.2. Among them, lines, CL4184-0-0-2R-1NR, CL4184-0-0-19R-1NR, CL4656-2-0-3R-1NR, CL4656-2-0-5R-1NR and CL4657-9-0-4R-1NR appeared to be most promising. They are being evaluated for bacterial wilt resistance and yielding ability.
