The Effects of the Different Cultivated Area and Period in Scutellaria Baicalensis

The purposes of this research were to investigate various cultivated environments and different seasons effectiveness to the yield and the content of active ingredients of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi. At Hualien County, the results showed the average weight per plant 81.3 g as well as the average root weight per plant 23.4g was the highest at Ji-an township. The best yield of active ingredient baicalin, 26.8mg g^(-1), at Zue-shue Township. As to the baicalein, another active ingredient, the best yield was 4.5mg g^(-1) at Ji-an Township. The third active ingredient wogonin with 3.5mg g^(-1) was the best at the Tzo-shi Township. Furthermore, the antioxidation capability of the S. baicalensis Georgi, An-ton Township offered best quality. The spring was the better than autumn for the S. baicalensis Georgi to have the above mentioned characters.
