"In Vitro" Antioxidant Activity and Phenolic Composition of "Nepeta Cataria" L. Extracts

並列摘要

The antioxidant potential of extracts from N. cataria has been investigated, employing three different established testing systems, such as scavenging activity on 2,2-diphenil- 1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2'-azinobis-(3-ethyl-benzothiazoline -6-sulfonate (ABTS) radical assays and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assay. The total phenolic content of each extract was assessed by the Folin-Ciocalteau's method and the polyphenols composition was analyzed by HPLC analyses. The results revealed an antioxidant potential of the extracts mainly related to the phenolic profile of the plant. The heat reflux extract showed significantly the highest total phenolic content and antioxidant activity among the investigated extracts and the usage of UAE with 70% ethanol revealed to be more effective compared to UAE with water.
