This essay explains the signficance of Sino-Christian theology to Chinese society and general public life. The significance should be defined as "theological," deriving from Christian tradition itself. It can be demonstrated in terms of the following aspects in the Chinese context: the relevance of Christian doctrines to social issues in general; the theological orientation and the characteristic of openness in Sino-Christian theology; the impact of Christian ethical teachings to Chinese social life; the contribution of Christian thoughts to study Chinese society; and the theological mission among scholars in Sino-Christian theology.
